Public support in Wales for wind, solar and tidal power

The Welsh Government has set a target for Wales to meet 100% of its electricity needs from renewables by 2035.

To meet our increasing demand for clean electricity, we need to expand wind, solar, and tidal farms across Wales. Wind power, both on land and at sea, forms the backbone of the energy transition, but a balanced mix of renewable energy sources is essential to ensure energy security and keep costs manageable. This approach brings added benefits, including job creation, community investment, and opportunities for nature restoration.

We champion the pivotal role renewable energy plays in growing Wales’ wider economy and decarbonising our heavy industry. Getting more renewable energy projects up and running not only reduces our reliance on fossil fuels. It also presents a powerful new opportunity to bring thousands of well-paid jobs and millions of pounds in investment for nature recovery and community benefit schemes.

Our work in Wales

Our aim is to accelerate the transition to renewable energy in Wales. We do this by:

  • Advocating for the economic, social and environmental opportunities from onshore and offshore wind.

  • Targeting the strategic barriers stalling faster project delivery, such as grid constraints and planning and consenting issues.

  • Collaborating with industry, wider stakeholders and government to establish trust and partnership working.
