RenewableUK Cymru briefings and FAQs

RenewableUK Cymru resources

The following resources were first published to support RenewableUK Cymru's Sennedd reception in April 2024. These resources remain highly relevant, offering a handy generalist guide to some of the key issues facing renewable energy in Wales.

Renewable energy holds immense rewards for bill payers, community funding, nature recovery programmes, energy security and economic growth. But three strategic barriers are holding back progress in Wales:

  • A grid network in need of an upgrade

  • An underfunded planning and consenting system

  • A lack of port and supply chain readiness

To meet these challenges, Welsh Government must include industry in an independent task and finish group to secure a clean energy future for Wales.

Dive into our handy briefing packs, available in both English and Welsh, to uncover the big wins of overcoming these barriers, the risks of inaction, and the practical steps for policymakers to drive change.
