Winners Announced for the Global Offshore Wind Awards 2024

RenewableUK announced the winners of the Global Offshore Wind Awards 2024 at a ceremony last night at the Royal Lancaster London, featuring guest speaker Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
Thirteen awards were announced, alongside an outstanding contribution award. The expert panel of judges for the night was formed from a diverse pool of senior industry professionals, Government figures, and RenewableUK team members.
The first award of the evening, the Offshore Wind Health, Safety and Well-Being Award, demonstrating improved health and safety and well-being operations for the offshore wind sector, was awarded to the Just Safe Event by Siemens Gamesa Renewables Energy.
Up next was the Offshore Wind Energy Skills Award, for delivering improved skills and competence in offshore wind operations, which went to Destination Renewables by EDF Renewables UK.
The next award was Supply Chain Innovation of the Year, which was won by Proserv, which has introduced a whole new concept to the offshore wind supply chain.
The Future Leader Award then went to Kirsty Adams of BlueFloat Energy | Nadara Partnership for displaying exceptional leadership in the industry.
The next category was the Aspiring Leader Award, which had two winners Lynsey Shovlin and Hannah Chrisp, both of EDF Renewables UK and Ireland, who have demonstrated key leadership qualities and the potential to become future leaders in the industry.
The Unsung Hero Award, highlighting unacknowledged achievements in the industry, then went to Declan Clarke, Field Engineer, Triton Knoll, RWE.
The special category of Outstanding Achievement Award went to Clark MacFarlane, Siemens Gamesa, recognising the decades of hard work and progress he has brought to the industry.
Next, the Supply Chain Impact Award was awarded to Forth Ports Limited - Forth Projects, in recognition of an outstanding project for the Scottish and UK’s supply chain.
Following on was the Offshore Wind Gamechanger category, which was awarded to Princess Elisabeth Energy Island by Elia Group, the world’s first artificial energy island.
The award for Equity and Inclusivity was then awarded to Sophie Ash, Gwynt y Mor Offshore Wind Project, who has demonstrated innovative approaches and best practice in advancing equality and inclusion regarding PPE for women the in the offshore wind sector.
The next category was the Offshore Wind Collaboration Award, which had two winners, Gillian Morrison, Crown Estate Scotland and Joint Offshore Wind and Air Defence Programme, Air Defence and Offshore Wind Joint Task Force.
The penultimate category, the Environment and Sustainability Award, went to Gwynt Glas: Collaborative Reef Cube installation in recognition of its key innovations in preserving maritime biodiversity.
The final category, the Offshore Wind Project of the Year was split into two awards: ‘Operational’, which was awarded to Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, RWE, and ‘Non-Operational’, which was awarded to Moray West Offshore Wind Farm, OW Ocean Winds and Ignitis Group.
RenewableUK’s Chief Executive Dan McGrail congratulated the winners, saying:
"It’s been fantastic to host the Global Offshore Wind Awards here in London for the third year in a row. I’d like to congratulate all this year’s winners, runners-up and nominees, we had a record number of entries, with strong competition showing the scale of talent in the industry, reflecting the diversity of skill and high calibre of everyone involved.
The last year has been an important time for the offshore wind sector both in the UK and globally. As we look forward to the future, I’m sure our exceptional candidates will move the industry from strength to strength.”
